Mission
Based Development in the residential setting allows for the development
of urban infill projects with green build components that compliment
and embody the existing culture of the neighborhood.
One
such example is SoMo’s Zen Garden.
Overall market trends show that young couples and growing families
are looking to move up or relocate to a more central location
in the Phoenix metro area. These families are culturally sensitive
and look for a distinct community design rather a homogenous,
cookie-cutter setting. The South Mountain Village is one of the
hottest growth areas in the city and also one the most culturally
diverse. Zen Gardens is a community of single family detached
homes that will have green build components within the insulation,
windows and roofing materials.
The
inspiration for the project embodies the Japanese influence that
arrived in the Baseline corridor area in the 1940s after WWII.
The development will incorporate the beauty and vibrant color
of Zen gardens that once graced the area and are still kept alive
by the Japanese family’s flower stores still located in South
Mountain Village.
